Commis Cuisine – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

Join the culinary team at a leading hotel brand in Oran, Algeria. As a Commis Cuisine you will support chefs by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Portion, chop, wash, peel, and store fresh fruits, vegetables and other ingredients.
• Weigh, measure, mix and follow recipes to prepare both hot and cold foods.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely and efficiently.
• Test food for doneness, monitor quality, and ensure proper presentation.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in correct portions, and clean all kitchen equipment and surfaces.
• Check appliance and food temperatures, report maintenance needs, and follow safety policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a kitchen or food‑service environment.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift up to 25 lb throughout the shift.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Food preparation and ingredient measurement.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
