Legal Counsel – Maghreb Region

About the role

Unilever is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its North Africa Levant & Iraq (NALI) legal team. Based in Algiers, you will support all FMCG activities across the Maghreb region, including Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania, and travel frequently to Oran.

Key responsibilities

• Provide corporate and transactional legal advice to business units, covering regulatory, operational, HR, litigation, investigation, audit, digital initiatives and more.
• Manage legal support for all Maghreb‑region activities and ensure compliance with internal policies.
• Lead contract negotiations, draft and review agreements, and develop standardised contract processes.
• Support company projects from a legal perspective and obtain external permits and licences.
• Deliver legal training to business partners and act as data‑privacy officer.
• Coordinate corporate secretary duties, including shareholders’ meetings and filings.
• Represent Unilever before courts, governmental agencies and in dispute resolution.
• Maintain relationships with external counsel and monitor legal developments.

Required profile

• 6 to 10 years of relevant legal experience.
• Master’s degree or equivalent (Master 2, Ingéniorat, Bac+5).
• Strong background in corporate and transactional law, preferably within FMCG or multinational environments.
• Experience handling cross‑border contracts, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution.
