Intern – Immigration & Border Governance (IBG)

About the role

The Intern will work under the supervision of the IBG Programme Officer, providing technical and administrative support to the Immigration & Border Governance programme in Algeria. The role offers exposure to international migration policy, capacity‑building activities and border management initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Programme Officer in assessments, capacity‑building and technical assistance, including preparation and delivery of training sessions.
• Draft meeting minutes, internal and external reports, and other programme documentation.
• Liaise with IOM staff on administrative, financial, logistical and operational matters supporting programme activities.
• Develop and standardise templates such as reports, questionnaires, surveys and feedback forms.
• Perform other duties as assigned related to the IBG programme.

Required profile

• Enrolled in the final year of a bachelor’s degree or a graduate programme, or recent graduate (within one year) in Political Science, Human Rights or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in note‑taking, drafting comprehensive meeting minutes and organising workshops or training sessions.
• Experience preparing official correspondence, terms of reference, concept notes and analytical reports.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Respect for diversity, gender equality and ability to work with colleagues from varied cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Fluency in English (oral and written).
• Working knowledge of Arabic (advantage).
