About the role
The Legal Officer (P3) will work within the Appeals Section of the Administrative Law Division, providing legal support for the implementation of United Nations standards of conduct. Reporting to the senior Legal Officer of the Appeals or Disciplinary Section, the incumbent will contribute to internal justice matters and represent the Secretary‑General before the United Nations Dispute Tribunal.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic and legal advice on internal justice and disciplinary matters across the UN Secretariat.
- Represent the Secretary‑General before the United Nations Dispute Tribunal.
- Oversee and coordinate actions to prevent and respond to unsatisfactory conduct.
- Support UN Secretariat managers in handling conduct and discipline issues.
- Assist in the implementation of UN standards of conduct for all personnel categories.
