Senior Payroll Manager

About the role

The Senior Payroll Manager will lead the payroll function, ensuring that all payroll expenses and salaries are processed accurately and on time. This role oversees a dedicated payroll team and works closely with other departments to maintain seamless payroll operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain payroll systems, directing data collection, calculation, and entry.
• Update payroll records, reviewing changes in exemptions, insurance, deductions, job titles, and transfers.
• Issue paychecks or electronic transfers and prepare comprehensive earnings, deductions, and wage reports.
• Approve payroll liabilities, including income tax and workers' compensation calculations.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and provide timely payroll information to employees.
• Develop, update, and enforce payroll policies and procedures in line with legal requirements.
• Recruit, orient, train, and manage payroll staff, including performance counseling and disciplinary actions.
• Stay current with payroll legislation and professional best practices through workshops and professional networks.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading payroll operations and supervising a payroll team.
• Strong knowledge of local payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex payroll issues.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee data.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with internal stakeholders and external professionals.
