Short-Term Communications Consultant for Algeria

About the role

The World Bank Group is seeking a short‑term communications consultant to support its country program in Algeria. Working closely with the Corporate and External Relations (CER) MENAAP team in Washington DC and regional offices, the consultant will help design and execute communication strategies that showcase the Bank’s development impact.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communications activities to promote World Bank work in Algeria.
• Write and edit outreach materials such as press releases, backgrounders, media packages, articles, social media posts, speeches, Q&As, website content and briefing notes.
• Organise events to disseminate research and stimulate development debates.
• Prepare results stories highlighting the impact of World Bank operations.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with media, civil society, NGOs, academia, the private sector and government agencies.
• Enhance the Bank’s media presence by producing news‑worthy content for local publications and digital platforms.
• Manage the country’s social‑media strategy in coordination with the online team.
• Coordinate with the WB Country Manager for Algeria and regional communications leads in Rabat and Cairo.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communications, preferably within development or international organisations.
• Strong writing and editing skills for a variety of formats.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders across multiple locations.
