Grid Automation & Software Intern

About the role

As a Grid Automation & Software Intern you will join GE Vernova’s internship program, working on real‑world projects that combine power‑system engineering with intelligent software. You will gain hands‑on experience with GA&S technologies, collaborate with experienced professionals and develop technical and communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate on enhancing existing Grid Automation & Software solutions and develop new, commercially viable features.
• Solve industry and customer challenges using electrical engineering principles, physics and AI/ML techniques.
• Contribute to pilot projects and initiatives that shape the future of grid technology.

Required profile

• Fresh graduate or master’s student in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or a related STEM field.
• Thesis or project work focused on power systems, protection, or controls with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Availability to work full‑time (40 hrs/week) during the summer internship.
• Willingness to work onsite at office locations and field sites.

Required skills

• Familiarity with grid automation technologies and IEC standards.
• Foundational knowledge of power‑system concepts such as fault detection and grid stability.
• Basic understanding of AI/ML techniques applied to power‑grid problems.
• Strong grasp of electrical engineering principles and physics.
