Installation Field Engineer – Mechanical

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Installation Field Engineer to lead on‑site installation, rigging and commissioning of gas turbine equipment at power plant locations in Algeria. The role involves hands‑on technical direction, safety leadership and close collaboration with engineering teams to ensure timely project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site direction for heavy equipment rigging, mechanical assembly and precise alignment of turbines and generators.
• Support commissioning activities including lubrication system flushing, hydraulic system testing and structural integrity verification.
• Ensure all work follows OEM technical manuals, drawings and engineering procedures.
• Champion EHS standards during high‑hazard operations such as heavy lifts and high‑pressure system installations.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical discrepancies in real time, coordinating with engineering to minimise delays.
• Maintain detailed QA/QC records such as bolt‑torque logs, alignment readings and clearance measurements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in gas‑power plant installation, outage management or field service.
• Ability to travel extensively to power‑plant sites for long‑term assignments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with laser alignment tools and torqueing/tensioning equipment.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex mechanical schematics.
• Hands‑on experience with gas turbine mechanical systems, gas/oil piping, thermal insulation and rotating equipment alignment.
