Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Brussels

About the role

We are seeking a Security Subject Matter Expert to join our Brussels team. In this on‑site position you will lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of our cybersecurity strategy, ensuring the protection of critical assets and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, monitor and troubleshoot Palo Alto Firewalls and Palo Alto Prisma Access.
• Design and maintain BGP routing on Palo Alto platforms to strengthen network security.
• Administer security management tools such as Algosec FireFlow, Log Analyzer and AppViz.
• Optimize security policies and streamline incident‑response processes.
• Lead vulnerability assessments, conduct regular security audits and remediate findings.
• Develop, implement and review security policies and procedures aligned with NIST and ISO 27001.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on security best practices and incident response.
• Monitor emerging threats and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to embed security across projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, preferably in security architecture or risk management.
• Proven expertise as a Security Subject Matter Expert.
• Strong knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001 and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM or CEH are strongly preferred.
