Technical & Clinical Robotic Engineer – Surgical Robot

About the role

This position is responsible for the installation, configuration, and clinical integration of the Toumai Laparoscopic Surgical Robot across hospitals in Algeria. The engineer will work closely with surgeons and operating‑room teams to ensure safe, efficient use of the robotic system.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on‑site and remote installation, preventive maintenance, and software/hardware updates of the surgical robot.
• Provide technical troubleshooting to maintain system uptime.
• Train surgeons, OR staff, and other healthcare professionals on robot operation and laparoscopic best practices.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to embed the robot into existing laparoscopic workflows.
• Offer real‑time clinical support during surgeries and resolve technical issues.
• Contribute to quality‑assurance processes and ensure compliance with CE, MDR, and Algerian health regulations.
• Build relationships with key opinion leaders, collect feedback, and support market analysis.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, user manuals, and reports in English, French, or Arabic.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Nursing or related field (advanced degree a plus).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in surgical robotics, medical devices, or operating‑room environments.
• Strong laparoscopic clinical background and experience with minimally invasive surgery equipment.
• Previous exposure to robotic surgical systems such as Toumai or Da Vinci is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with robotic systems and control systems.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting, hardware diagnostics, and software diagnostics.
• Preventive maintenance of complex medical equipment.
• Familiarity with operating‑room protocols and aseptic techniques.
