CBRN Specialist (AI Content Reviewer)

About the role

SME Careers, an AI data services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, is hiring an hourly, remote contractor CBRN Specialist (subject matter expert). You will review AI-generated content on chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear safety topics, and create high-quality reference content that keeps AI responses safe, accurate and policy-aligned. You will judge technical accuracy, safety framing, terminology, risk awareness and reasoning quality, and give precise written feedback.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated responses on CBRN, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness and public safety topics for accuracy, safety and guideline alignment.
• Flag content that gives dangerous procedural detail, acquisition guidance, weaponization support, evasion tactics, unsafe lab guidance, harmful exposure advice or other misuse-enabling content.
• Create gold-standard examples that answer benign CBRN questions responsibly without giving operationally dangerous instructions.
• Rank model outputs on safe handling, correct risk framing, appropriate refusals, helpful redirection, scientific accuracy and clarity.
• Detect hallucinations, incorrect hazard classifications, misleading risk statements, overconfident conclusions and unsafe recommendations.
• Apply project rubrics consistently and give clear written feedback; escalate ambiguous or high-risk content for further review.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Public Health, Toxicology, Nuclear Engineering, Radiation Science, Emergency Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Biosecurity, Security Studies or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong professional English (minimum C1) to follow guidelines and write detailed feedback.
• 3+ years of professional experience in CBRN safety, emergency preparedness, hazardous materials, biosafety, radiation safety, public health, EHS, defense/security analysis, technical review or related work.
• Strong understanding of CBRN hazard categories, risk assessment, exposure pathways, protective concepts and emergency communication.
• Familiarity with safety frameworks, biosafety levels, radiation protection, decontamination and incident reporting is preferred.
• Prior experience with AI safety, data annotation, technical QA, policy review, red-team review or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred.
