Executive Chef

About the role

Holiday Inn Algiers Cheraga Towers is looking for an Executive Chef to lead its kitchen team and raise the standard of its food and beverage offering. The role covers daily kitchen operations, team development and coordination with other hotel departments.

Key responsibilities

• Run daily kitchen activities, plan and assign work and keep staffing levels right
• Coach and mentor the team, set performance goals and recommend HR-related actions
• Keep departments connected, communicate with department heads and promote teamwork and quality service
• Encourage guest feedback, answer guest questions about dishes and kitchen services, and help the Food and Beverage Director with event planning
• Keep dishes up to standard, watch competitor activity and industry trends, and keep food and drink secure and stocked to minimise waste
• Ensure equipment and the environment are clean and safe, and follow government regulations and company policies
• Complete forecasts, production reports and help prepare the annual budget and departmental goals
• Maintain costing and documentation of dishes prepared and sold

Required profile

• Degree or certificate in culinary arts, or equivalent professional training
• At least 3 years in a senior culinary role (resort/hotel preferred)
• Strong background in diverse cuisines and menu development
• Proven leadership, training and mentoring of kitchen staff
• Experience planning and running large events and catering
• Ability to manage kitchen budgets and control costs
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations

Required skills

• Other languages besides the local language; English is a plus
• Adapting menus to seasonal changes and guest feedback
• Sourcing local ingredients and commitment to sustainability
