Maintenance Operator 2

About the role

JW Marriott in Algiers is hiring a Maintenance Operator 2 (job number 26143023) to handle guest repair requests and perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment. The role involves resolving maintenance issues with little to no supervision and communicating daily activities and problems to the other shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues
• Perform preventive maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines
• Carry equipment such as tools and radios, and identify, locate and operate shut-off valves for equipment and buildings
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies
• Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on pumps, motors, plumbing, electrical equipment, lamps, switches and outlets, and other guestroom items
• Program TVs, assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and light bulb and A/C filter replacement
• Use the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work and troubleshoot hotel MEP systems
• Train and mentor other engineers, perform Engineer on Duty duties, and display working knowledge of engineering computer programs for preventative maintenance and energy management
• Welcome guests, follow safety and security policies, and maintain a professional appearance

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background preferred
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience preferred
• Valid driver's license
• No supervisory experience required
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds alone, with assistance for heavier loads

Required skills

• Basic ability to repair or replace PVC copper pipe, including soldering
• Proficiency in one and above-average skills in two of: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, building management
• Safe use of hand and power tools
• Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification
