National Project Officer – Reception Facility Operations

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Project Officer to support the daily management of the Reception Facility for Voluntary Return (DARV) in Algeria. Reporting to the AVRR Coordinator and the IOM Head of Programme, the incumbent will coordinate operations, liaise with service providers and ensure compliance with IOM procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day running of the DARV, which can host up to 300 migrants per day, including maintenance, catering, pre‑departure activities and staff scheduling.
• Monitor cost‑management data through MiMOSA, flag concerns, and work with procurement and logistics to secure timely goods and services.
• Support the establishment of a feedback and complaints mechanism and assist M&E units with data collection and reporting.
• Supervise a team of assistants, distribute tasks, monitor performance and promote staff well‑being.
• Facilitate migrant participation in governance, ensure adherence to internal rules, and coordinate referrals to protection, medical and reintegration units.
• Prepare weekly operational reports and contribute suggestions to improve facility management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related field (Master’s degree acceptable).
• Minimum two years of relevant professional experience, preferably with IOM or other international humanitarian organizations.
• Fluency in French and English (oral and written); knowledge of Arabic or other regional languages is an advantage.
• Experience in administrative and financial management, budget monitoring and cash management.
