Rake Man – Paving Crew Member

About the role

The Rake Man joins a paving crew to prepare and maintain asphalt surfaces across various sites in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. Reporting to the on‑site Foreman and Supervisor, you will work collaboratively with teammates to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to high workmanship standards.

Key responsibilities

• Rake and adjust asphalt surfaces to achieve a smooth, even finish.
• Assist the crew in setting up and breaking down equipment for each job.
• Follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Adapt to flexible shift patterns, including days, evenings, nights, and seasonal variations.
• Travel to multiple site locations throughout the GTA as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in asphalt surface preparation or related paving work.
• Strong ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Willingness to work varied shifts and seasonal schedules from April/May through December.
• Eligibility to work in Canada and ability to join the union (Local 183).

Required skills

• Asphalt surface raking and adjustment.
