ROS 2 Engineer - Autonomous Mobile Robots

About the role

VI Solutions builds autonomous mobile robots for warehouse and logistics operations; its robot, VIBot, is in live pilots carrying real loads in real warehouses. The ROS 2 engineer works directly with the founding team on the autonomy stack that runs on deployed machines.

Key responsibilities

• Autonomous navigation on physical robots (Nav2, SLAM, sensor fusion) in environments that change weekly
• Perception and tracking robust to variable lighting, floor conditions and unpredictable human movement
• Recovery and failure-handling behaviour: what the robot does when a sensor degrades, tracking is lost or something unmodelled enters the space
• Multi-robot coordination as the system scales from one machine to a fleet

Required profile

• Strong hands-on ROS 2 experience
• Comfortable owning a subsystem end to end in a small team
• Nice to have: computer vision and object detection, LiDAR and depth camera integration, embedded or firmware experience, and experience in industrial or warehouse environments
