Senior Exploration Geophysicist

About the role

The Senior Exploration Geophysicist will lead the design, acquisition, processing and interpretation of geophysical surveys to support hydrocarbon and mineral exploration projects. You will work closely with geologists, reservoir engineers and drilling teams to turn seismic and other geophysical data into actionable exploration targets.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and design seismic, gravity, magnetic and EM surveys, ensuring data quality and compliance.
• Oversee data processing workflows, validate outputs and manage quality control.
• Interpret 2D and 3D seismic datasets, generate structural and stratigraphic models, and identify exploration prospects.
• Integrate geophysical results with geological, petrophysical and reservoir data for basin analysis and play fairway studies.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior geophysicists and contribute to company standards.
• Support portfolio evaluation, prospect ranking and drilling location recommendations.
• Apply advanced techniques such as seismic inversion, AVO analysis and machine‑learning driven interpretation.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geophysics, Earth Sciences or related field (PhD a plus).
• 8–15+ years of experience in exploration geophysics.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Seismic interpretation (2D/3D) and processing.
• Experience with interpretation software such as Petrel, Kingdom and OpenWorks.
• Geophysical survey design and quality control.
• Seismic inversion, AVO analysis and machine‑learning applications.
• Basin analysis and integration with geological and reservoir data.
