Senior Field Operator - Commissioning

About the role

The Senior Field Operator will lead pre‑commissioning, commissioning and start‑up activities on oil and gas process plants. Working closely with the commissioning and control‑room teams, you will ensure safe, efficient transition of equipment and systems to operational status while maintaining a strong HSSE focus.

Key responsibilities

• Execute field‑based pre‑commissioning tasks such as line flushing, air blowing, leak testing, valve stroke checks and system walk‑downs.
• Support commissioning and start‑up activities, including system pressurisation, purging, inerting and controlled hydrocarbon introduction under supervision.
• Operate process equipment (pumps, compressors, exchangers, tanks, valves) in coordination with the control room.
• Perform isolations, apply LOTO procedures and verify safety using PTW and isolation plans.
• Monitor equipment performance during start‑up, troubleshoot abnormal conditions and assist in stabilising process parameters.
• Maintain clear communication with the control room and commissioning engineer, record daily activities and contribute to punch‑list and hand‑over documentation.
• Support operations readiness activities such as SATs, functional tests, equipment energisation and system turnover.
• Act as field team leader when delegated, guiding technicians and contractors to complete tasks safely and efficiently.

Required profile

• Proven experience in pre‑commissioning, commissioning or start‑up of oil & gas process plants.
• Strong HSSE awareness with ability to follow LOTO, PTW and isolation procedures.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work under supervision in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective communication with control‑room and commissioning teams.
• Capability to lead small field teams and coordinate with contractors.
