Advisor to Vice President & Chief Risk Officer

About the role

The Advisor to the Vice President & Chief Risk Officer (VP&CRO) supports the VP&CRO in achieving strategic, operational and risk‑related objectives across the Bank. Based at NDB Headquarters in Shanghai, the role acts as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, providing high‑level analysis and recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Review complex proposals and deliver comprehensive recommendations that reflect multiple stakeholder perspectives.
• Critically analyse agenda papers for various Bank committees and provide actionable insights for decision‑making.
• Conduct independent research and analysis on strategic and operational issues, identifying emerging trends, opportunities and challenges.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with senior officials from member countries, development finance institutions and multilateral organisations.
• Support the Vice President in high‑level meetings with government officials, financial institutions and development partners.
• Oversee quality assurance for key documents and outputs produced by the Vice‑Presidency.
• Motivate and challenge team members to improve efficiency, pursue innovation and uphold good governance.
• Lead special projects and initiatives as delegated by the Vice President.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field from a reputable university.
• At least 12 years of senior‑level experience in government, multilateral institutions or major financial organisations.
• Proven track record in policy development, executive‑level advising, inter‑departmental coordination and stakeholder management.
• Hands‑on experience in policy‑making, executive advising and administrative functions, preferably in a multicultural environment.
