AI Engineer (Applied AI / LLM)

About the role

Emplorium is looking for its first Applied AI Engineer to lead the evolution of Aura, the company’s AI‑driven customer‑engagement agent. You will turn state‑of‑the‑art large language models into reliable, production‑ready agents that businesses can trust to answer questions, qualify leads and automate actions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise Aura’s retrieval and context pipeline – ingesting, chunking, indexing and selecting knowledge at inference time.
• Own prompt and system design, including agent personality, tool selection and answer formatting.
• Define safe tool‑use and function‑calling patterns that let Aura interact with customer systems while enforcing guardrails.
• Build and maintain an evaluation harness to measure answer quality, regression risk and production behaviour, and use the results to guide every change.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering teams to translate AI capabilities into configurable customer features.
• Set the technical direction for the AI function as the team expands.

Required profile

• Strong software‑engineering fundamentals with production experience shipping user‑facing products (preferably in Go).
• Proven experience building on top of LLMs in production – retrieval‑augmented generation, tool/function calling and agent‑style orchestration.
• Rigorous evaluation mindset: creating real‑usage eval sets and measuring improvements.
• Ability to operate independently as the sole AI specialist and define direction without close supervision.
• Clear written communication and comfort working across functions in a remote setting.
