Arabic Teacher

About the role

The American International School of Algiers is seeking a dynamic Arabic Teacher for the 2026‑2027 academic year. You will guide students of diverse backgrounds—both native speakers and learners new to Arabic—in developing communicative competence while deepening their appreciation of Arab and Algerian culture.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned Arabic lessons that develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of heritage learners, beginners, and advanced students within the same classroom.
• Integrate cultural elements such as music, storytelling, and calligraphy to make language learning meaningful.
• Use appropriate technology tools to enhance language practice and communication.
• Monitor student progress through formative assessments and provide regular feedback to families.
• Collaborate with homeroom teachers, special‑needs coordinators, and school leadership to support inclusive learning.
• Participate in weekly planning meetings, professional learning communities, and school‑wide development activities.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, student‑centered educator with a passion for Arabic language and culture.
• Ability to create a supportive classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking language risks.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Commitment to safeguarding standards and completion of required annual training.

Required skills

• Fluent or near‑native proficiency in Arabic (both spoken and written).
• Experience teaching Arabic to mixed‑ability groups.
• Familiarity with age‑appropriate language teaching methodologies.
• Basic competence with educational technology tools.
