Assistant Kitchen Manager – Immediate Hiring

About the role

This position supports the General Manager in overseeing daily kitchen operations for hospitality venues across Canada. The role focuses on maintaining food quality, safety, and operational efficiency while leading a diverse kitchen team.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager in managing day‑to‑day kitchen activities and ensuring operational excellence.
• Supervise kitchen managers, chefs, cooks and support staff.
• Monitor food quality, consistency, presentation and adherence to company standards.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, health and workplace safety regulations.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching and performance management of kitchen employees.
• Help develop staff schedules, control labour costs and optimise staffing levels.
• Track food, inventory and operating costs, minimise waste and manage purchasing and supplier relationships.
• Resolve operational challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with front‑of‑house management to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Assist in achieving financial targets, productivity goals and operational KPIs.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Assistant General Manager, Kitchen Manager, Executive Sous Chef or similar leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and hospitality management.
• Proven leadership, coaching and team‑development abilities.
• Excellent understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Organisational, analytical and decision‑making skills.
• Experience managing budgets, inventory, labour scheduling and operational performance.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
