Backend Engineer (Fintech) – Independent Contractor

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to design, build and scale the core infrastructure that powers nsave’s fintech platform. Working closely with the CTO and the engineering team, you will own critical backend subsystems that support thousands of users across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain service architecture, reliability, build and release pipelines, and integrations with compliance and banking services.
• Identify and remediate weak points in codebase and infrastructure to improve system health.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and operations teams to deliver features for multiple markets.
• Contribute to engineering best practices, code quality and process improvements as the company scales.

Required profile

• Strong engineering fundamentals with knowledge of clean architecture, layered abstractions and trade‑offs.
• Broad understanding of backend architecture, databases, site reliability, infrastructure as code and CI/CD.
• Security‑mindset with ability to design robust financial systems meeting compliance requirements.
• Business‑oriented decision making, balancing speed and quality.
