About the role
The Commis Cuisine supports the culinary team at Le Méridien Oran Hotel by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment. This full‑time, on‑site position is ideal for someone with basic kitchen experience who enjoys fast‑paced food service.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients: portion, chop, wash, peel, weigh, measure and mix according to recipes.
- Cook and assemble cold and hot foods, ensuring quality, presentation and temperature standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
- Monitor food quality, test doneness, and adjust cooking as needed.
- Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, tools and equipment.
- Follow safety, hygiene and company policies; report any hazards or incidents.
Required profile
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- At least 1 year of related kitchen or food‑service experience.
- No supervisory experience required.
Required skills
- Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
- Food preparation techniques: chopping, portioning, weighing, measuring and mixing.
- Food safety and hygiene practices.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift objects up to 25 lb.
