Commis Patissier (Pastry Assistant)

About the role

Marriott International is seeking a motivated Commis Patissier to join its culinary team in Oran, Algeria. You will work under the supervision of the Chef de Partie to produce a variety of breads, pastries, and desserts that meet the brand’s quality and presentation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare doughs, fillings, proof, bake, and decorate breads and pastries according to daily production sheets.
• Follow recipes, quality guidelines, and food‑prep checklists to ensure consistent results.
• Maintain kitchen logs for food‑safety compliance and report temperature checks.
• Communicate excess inventory to the Chef for daily special planning.
• Use baking equipment and measuring tools safely and accurately.
• Monitor food quality and portion sizes throughout the shift.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, and employee coaching as needed.
• Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and personal hygiene standards.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree in culinary arts or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience in a bakery or pastry production environment.
• No prior supervisory experience required.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced kitchen and lift up to 25 lb.
