Excel Specialist – Remote Data Operations

About the role

We are looking for an analytical Excel Specialist to serve as the backbone of our data operations across Africa. Working remotely, you will translate raw numbers into actionable business intelligence for finance, marketing, and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain complex, scalable Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables and interactive dashboards.
• Write and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate data entry, extraction and report generation.
• Clean, validate and merge large datasets from multiple sources using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Develop dynamic forecasting, budgeting and performance tracking models for senior management.
• Audit and troubleshoot existing Excel files to resolve formula and data mapping errors.
• Translate technical insights into visual formats and train cross‑functional remote teams on reporting templates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, spreadsheet management or financial modeling.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate across African time zones.

Required skills

• Expert‑level mastery of Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Power Query).
• Extensive experience creating VBA macros and custom scripts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI and SQL databases.
