Finance and Budget Officer (Temporary) – UNON

About the role

The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is seeking a Finance and Budget Officer on a temporary basis (P3 level). Reporting to the Section or Unit Chief of the Budget and Financial Management Service, the incumbent will provide strategic, technical and operational support across budgeting, financial management, grants management, voluntary contributions and partner oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation, monitoring and reporting of budgets in line with UN financial policies.
• Assist in the management of grants, voluntary contributions and implementing partner agreements.
• Ensure compliance with the United Nations Financial Regulations, Rules and International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
• Provide technical advice and operational assistance to programme units on financial matters.
• Contribute to the development of financial procedures and tools to improve efficiency.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in finance, economics, public administration or a related field.
• Experience in budgeting, financial management and grants administration, preferably within an international organization.
• Familiarity with UN financial regulations and IPSAS.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Section or Unit Chief and collaborate with diverse teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of United Nations Financial Regulations and Rules.
• Understanding of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
