Health & Safety Specialist – HSE Role

About the role

The HSE Specialist will lead and coordinate health, safety and environmental work at Ahlstrom's Jönköping plant. Reporting to the HSE Manager Sweden, the role combines strategic improvement with hands‑on collaboration across the site, supporting managers, safety representatives and employees.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and develop systematic occupational health and safety work.
• Support managers in fulfilling their safety responsibilities.
• Conduct and coordinate risk assessments, safety walks and inspections.
• Investigate accidents, near‑misses and risk observations, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Plan and deliver HSE training and onboarding sessions.
• Promote and strengthen the safety culture together with the workforce.
• Coordinate contractor safety and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
• Contribute HSE expertise to investment and improvement projects.
• Assist with local environmental issues such as chemical handling and environmental deviations.
• Track key performance indicators, report results and provide decision‑support data.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in occupational health and safety, engineering or equivalent experience.
• Several years of HSE experience in industry, process or manufacturing environments.
• Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, accident investigations and systematic improvement work.
• Good knowledge of Swedish occupational health and safety legislation.
• Strong communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience in data analysis and reporting.
