H&S Engineer (SST) - Gypsum Manufacturing

About the role

Knauf Algeria, part of the Knauf Group, is looking for an H&S Engineer to join its HSE team at the Fleurus plant. The role ensures health and safety practices at the plant comply with legal requirements and Knauf standards, supports ISO 45001, and promotes a proactive safety culture among employees, contractors and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Implement health and safety practices at the plant in line with legal requirements and Knauf standards
• Support the implementation and sustainability of the ISO 45001 management system
• Take part in hazard identification, risk assessment and control activities
• Carry out regular site inspections, report nonconformities and follow up on corrective and preventive actions
• Record near-miss and accident cases, run root cause analyses and coordinate preventive actions
• Monitor compliance with national H&S regulations and keep the related documentation
• Take part in internal and external audits and help close findings
• Deliver H&S training during onboarding and organise regular safety and environmental awareness training
• Promote safe behaviour through toolbox talks and communication campaigns
• Prepare monthly H&S performance reports for management and contribute to continuous improvement
• Collaborate with other departments and act as an ambassador of Knauf's Zero Harm and Zero Tolerance values

Required profile

• At least a bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering (an added advantage)
• Valid Occupational Safety Specialist certificate (an added advantage)
• Knowledge of H&S legislation, risk assessment and emergency response (an added advantage)
• Experience implementing ISO 45001 (an added advantage)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Advanced English (written and spoken)
• Willingness to be active on the shop floor and no travel restrictions

• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
