Intern – Immigration & Border Governance

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking an intern to support its Immigration & Border Governance (IBG) Programme in Algeria. The role offers hands‑on experience in border management, capacity building and human‑rights protection within a multicultural UN environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the IBG Programme Officer in implementing assessments, capacity‑building activities and technical assistance, including preparation and delivery of trainings.
• Draft meeting minutes, internal and external reports, and other programme documentation.
• Liaise with IOM staff on administrative, financial, logistics and operational matters related to programme activities.
• Contribute to the development and standardisation of templates such as reports, questionnaires and feedback forms.

Required profile

• Enrolled in the final year of a bachelor’s programme or a graduate programme, or recent graduate (within one year) in Political Science, Human Rights or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in note‑taking, drafting minutes, organising workshops/training sessions and preparing official correspondence.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Fluency in English (oral and written); working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
