Lead Controls Technical Field Advisor

About the role

As a Lead Controls Technical Field Advisor (TFA) within GE Vernova's Gas Power One Field Services team, you will manage site activities at customer power generating facilities. After completing Level III competencies, you plan, organize, integrate and monitor resources such as labour, tools and technical assistants so that work is completed according to contractual requirements, making decisions within defined parameters and resolving complex issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, perform and coordinate site activities, including on-site installation of systems and equipment and ongoing preventive maintenance, repair and calibration.
• Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services.
• Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives on installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance.
• Write technical reports, order materials, secure quotations, prepare job status reports, customer reports, timesheets and expense sheets.
• Sign off on all changes and coach, mentor and train other team members.
• Ensure parts are shipped to the site, perform walk-downs during installation and carry out aftermarket upgrades.
• Work holidays, weekends and overtime as required, with extensive travel between projects.

Required profile

• Technical or university degree, or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of field services experience.
• 7+ years of experience in field services or power generation equipment maintenance.
• Successful completion of required Level III training programmes.
• Extensive travel and English proficiency required.
• Desired: experience overseeing field service activities, mentorship skills, experience with Alstom, Siemens or other OEM equipment, and ability to sell GE products to customers.

• Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical flow and instrument diagrams.
• Dial and laser alignment and thermal growth equipment.
• Troubleshooting and routine maintenance checkout of a wide range of equipment vintage.
