Maintenance Officer

About the role

The Maintenance Officer will lead security risk management for BAT Algeria, ensuring the protection of personnel, assets, information and operations across all sites. This role integrates security, business continuity and crisis management to support resilient business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the BAT Algeria security plan aligned with MENA strategy and Group requirements.
• Lead implementation of Security Risk Management, identifying, assessing, mitigating and escalating risks.
• Maintain effective security coverage for offices, factories, warehouses, trade offices, fleet, field teams, events and business travel.
• Ensure physical security measures—access control, CCTV, intruder detection, fire detection, key and visitor management—remain tested, effective and fit for purpose.
• Develop, test and improve site security procedures, emergency response arrangements and incident management processes.
• Provide timely security intelligence, threat assessments and travel security advice for Algeria and relevant regions.
• Support business continuity planning, testing and activation in line with Group BCM requirements.
• Manage security incidents and investigations in coordination with Legal, HR, Compliance and Operations, preserving evidence and meeting reporting obligations.
• Produce accurate security reporting, including incidents, risk updates, BCP testing and KPI dashboards.
• Oversee security service providers, ensuring contractual compliance and service quality.

Required profile

• Proven experience in security risk management, business continuity or crisis management, preferably in an industrial or multinational environment.
• Strong understanding of local Algerian regulations and statutory security requirements.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with Legal, HR, Operations, Compliance and senior leadership.
• Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills to assess threats and recommend mitigation actions.
• Effective communication skills to provide clear security advice to leadership and operational teams.
