National Project Officer (Reception Facility Operations)

About the role

The National Project Officer will support daily management of the Reception Facility for Voluntary Return (DARV) in Algeria, ensuring smooth operations for up to 300 migrants per day. Reporting to the AVRR Coordinator and IOM Head of Programme, the officer will coordinate with multiple IOM units, external partners and service providers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day running of the DARV, including maintenance, catering, pre‑departure activities and staff scheduling.
• Monitor cost‑management and beneficiary data with the Information Management Unit and flag concerns.
• Facilitate feedback and complaints mechanisms and support migrant participation in governance.
• Supervise a team of assistants, ensuring task distribution, performance monitoring and well‑being.
• Prepare weekly operational reports and support procurement, finance and logistics processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Political/Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related field with at least two years relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in the same fields.
• Experience in IOM administrative and financial management, budget monitoring, cash management and internal control procedures.
• Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons or other vulnerable groups, preferably in an international humanitarian setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with the MiMOSA cost‑management system.
