Patient Care Specialist – Heart and Lung Clinic

About the role

The Heart and Lung Clinic is seeking a Patient Care Specialist to serve as the primary point of contact for patients undergoing cardiac and pulmonary procedures. Working Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am‑4:30 pm, you will coordinate appointments, obtain authorizations, and communicate results, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience for each patient.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule radiology and laboratory procedures, secure insurance authorizations, and complete required paperwork.
• Provide patients with detailed information about upcoming visits, including preparation, risks, and benefits.
• Receive test results, discuss abnormal findings with providers, and relay results to patients.
• Obtain cardiac clearances, review medications, and ensure all consent and compliance forms are signed.
• Educate patients on therapies, procedures, and diagnoses, and arrange referrals to other specialties as needed.
• Follow up after procedures to address concerns and communicate provider recommendations.
• Maintain accurate records of all patient interactions in the electronic chart.
• Act as liaison between providers, pharmaceutical representatives, and external physician offices.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (required); Associate degree preferred.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• At least one year of experience in a medical office, preferably in cardiac or pulmonary care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Required skills

• Medical Assistant training.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
