Principal AI-Native Engineer

About the role

Ionic Partners is building a portfolio of businesses that run on AI‑driven agentic systems. As a Principal AI‑Native Engineer you will join a flat, central team that owns the end‑to‑end production platform powering these systems. You will inherit an existing, live orchestration framework and be responsible for extending, hardening, and scaling it across multiple business functions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship agentic systems that automate core business functions such as engineering, finance, support, and revenue operations.
• Extend the in‑house orchestration framework and maintain machine‑readable context artifacts that feed the agents.
• Integrate automated development and QA agents into the engineering pipeline and ensure reliable production operation.
• Own the full lifecycle of your builds: deployment, monitoring, cost management, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with domain experts to translate well‑specified problems into reliable autonomous solutions.

Required profile

• Principal‑level builder with a track record of delivering production‑grade software systems.
• Comfortable working without hierarchical layers; self‑directed and accountable for outcomes.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset, able to turn specifications into autonomous agents that run without supervision.
• Experience operating AI or agentic platforms at scale.
