School Nurse

About the role

The American International School of Algiers is seeking a compassionate and reliable School Nurse for the 2026–2027 academic year. In this role you will provide day‑to‑day health care, promote wellness, and build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff in a small, multicultural international school.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first aid and immediate care for injuries and illnesses during the school day.
• Assess health concerns, determine appropriate care, rest, or referral, and administer medications with proper authorization.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well‑stocked health office.
• Respond calmly to medical emergencies and coordinate with families and emergency services.
• Keep accurate, confidential health records, including immunizations, allergies, and chronic conditions.
• Develop individual health care plans for students with conditions such as asthma, allergies, or diabetes.
• Communicate health information sensitively with families and track communicable illnesses.
• Promote wellness, hygiene, nutrition, and healthy habits across the school community.
• Advise leadership on health and safety policies and support emergency preparedness.
• Collaborate with teachers and the Special Needs Coordinator, and train staff in basic first aid and emergency procedures.

• Highly professional and discreet with confidential health information.
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with students, families, and staff.

Required skills

• Current first aid and CPR certification.
• Ability to administer medications according to school policy.
• Experience maintaining confidential health records.
• Capability to develop and manage health care plans for chronic conditions.
