Senior Operator – Commissioning (DCS)

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Senior Operator to operate the Distributed Control System (DCS) panel during pre‑commissioning, commissioning, start‑up and ongoing plant operation. The role supports field teams in an oil and gas process plant environment and requires strong technical knowledge of HMI/DCS functionality and high HSSE awareness.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and verify Loop Check, Cause & Effect, Logic & Functional Check activities with E&I during pre‑commissioning and commissioning.
• Support field operation by monitoring and recording high‑pressure leak testing parameters via DCS.
• Operate the DCS panel to conduct machine test runs of rotating equipment such as compressors, pumps and fans.
• Run and monitor continuous or batch processes across pre‑commissioned vendor packages.
• Assist the client in operating the DCS during plant start‑up, performance testing and hand‑over.
• Continuously observe and regulate temperature, pressure, flow rate and level using DCS/HMI and related instruments.
• Identify and resolve process abnormalities, initiate emergency shutdowns and coordinate with field operators.
• Maintain accurate logs of operating parameters, activities and incidents.

Required profile

• Extensive experience operating DCS/HMI panels in oil and gas process plants.
• Strong understanding of control and emergency systems, plant equipment and HSSE procedures.
• Ability to work closely with commissioning, field and operations teams.
• Excellent analytical skills to detect and address process deviations.
