Senior Private Sector & SME Development Expert

About the role

The Senior Private Sector & SME Development Expert will provide high‑quality technical assistance to strengthen private‑sector development, SME competitiveness and entrepreneurship in Egypt. The role supports the EU‑Egypt Strategic Partnership by delivering analyses, policy recommendations and capacity‑building activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical assistance on private‑sector development, SME competitiveness, entrepreneurship, business‑environment reform, access to finance, innovation and investment‑related analysis.
• Prepare market assessments, feasibility studies, sector analyses and investment‑related studies, including policy recommendations.
• Support Egyptian partner entities in improving programme implementation and institutional capacities.
• Contribute to the preparation of reports and deliverables for the EU‑funded “Egypt Downtown Facility” project.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in economics, business administration, finance, entrepreneurship, development studies or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in private‑sector development, SME support, entrepreneurship or business‑environment reform.
• Proven experience preparing market assessments, feasibility studies, sector analyses or policy recommendations.
• Strong knowledge of private‑sector development policies and instruments; experience in Egypt or the MENA region is highly desirable.
• English at C1 level; Arabic and French are assets.
