Senior Protection Caseworker

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Senior Protection Caseworker to support its Algeria Protection Programme. Reporting to the Protection Officer and working closely with multiple IOM units, the incumbent will manage protection cases for vulnerable migrants, including children, victims of trafficking and survivors of gender‑based violence.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct vulnerability assessments, screenings and case management for migrants in Algeria, ensuring confidentiality and timely referrals to specialized partners.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive referral pathways with UN agencies, government bodies and NGOs, and map on‑site and off‑site services.
• Prepare outreach materials, disseminate information on available services, and supervise junior staff.
• Deliver training to partners on protection principles, counter‑trafficking, GBV mitigation and PSEA.
• Ensure protection interventions align with IOM standards, global best practices and programme targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in development studies, migration studies, international relations or related field with at least four years of relevant experience, or high‑school diploma with six years of experience.
• Proven experience implementing protection programmes for vulnerable migrants in humanitarian settings and coordinating with multiple agencies.
• Strong liaison, networking and intercultural communication skills, with ability to work under pressure and travel as needed.
