Shift Leader - Front Desk

About the role

Le Méridien in Oran, Algeria is looking for a full-time Shift Leader for its Rooms & Guest Services Operations. The role covers check-in, payments, guest follow-up and shift handover, and involves assisting management with hiring, training and scheduling.

Key responsibilities

• Help staff expedite problem payments, such as credit card issues, and follow up with guests about their satisfaction with guest-related issues.
• Process all guest check-ins: confirm reservations, assign rooms, issue and activate room keys, and set up accurate accounts (shares, room/tax/incidentals, comps).
• Handle all payment types (room charges, cash, checks, debit, credit) and anticipate sold-out situations by arranging alternative accommodation.
• Block rooms in the computer, note special requests, and coordinate with housekeeping on room readiness.
• Contact the right departments (e.g. bellperson, housekeeping) to resolve guest calls and requests.
• Review shift logs and daily memo books, count the bank at the start and end of the shift, and balance and drop receipts per accounting specifications.
• Support management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation and coaching, and act as the first point of contact for the Open Door Policy.
• Report accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions, complete safety training, and follow company policies and appearance standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related work experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, sit or walk for long periods and lift objects up to 10 pounds.
