Teaching Assistant – Special Needs

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join Oak Tree School, a newly opened special‑needs academy in Winnersh, Reading. You will work closely with specialist staff to support children with autism spectrum conditions and complex needs, helping them achieve their full potential in a safe and inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering a rich, stimulating curriculum tailored to individual EHCP requirements.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with autism, speech, language and communication needs.
• Help implement targeted therapeutic programmes and personal development activities.
• Promote a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere and encourage pupil engagement.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and SEND coordinators.

Required profile

• Hard‑working, committed and able to inspire and motivate children with additional needs.
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient approach.
• Willingness to work as part of a specialist team and contribute to holistic learning.
