Import Coordinator

About the role

The Import Coordinator will oversee the end‑to‑end import process, ensuring compliance with customs and banking regulations while guaranteeing timely shipment execution. Acting as the primary liaison between suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, banks and internal finance teams, the role is critical to minimizing delays, penalties and extra costs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, review and verify all import documentation to meet customs, banking and company standards.
• Coordinate preparation and availability of import documents before arrival to avoid demurrage, detention and penalties.
• Monitor and track shipments daily, updating ETA, identifying potential delays and ensuring schedule adherence.
• Coordinate international payment processes, including Letters of Credit, Documentary Remittance and bank transfers, and follow up with suppliers and customs forwarders.
• Provide regular status reports on shipments, documentation readiness, payment progress and risk indicators.
• Support finance planning by forecasting import‑related payments such as supplier invoices, freight costs and duties.
• Identify and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives to streamline import operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in import operations, international trade, logistics or supply‑chain management.
• Strong understanding of customs procedures, import documentation and international payment methods.
• Excellent coordination, organization and problem‑solving abilities with capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Detail‑oriented mindset and ability to work collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders.
