Rig Driller

About the role

The Rig Driller leads and supervises drilling operations on the rig floor, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with the approved well program. This role combines hands‑on equipment operation with crew management and strict adherence to well‑control and HSE procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and execute daily drilling activities according to approved well programs.
• Operate drilling equipment such as rotary tables, top drives, and drilling motors.
• Monitor drilling parameters, report anomalies, and coordinate corrective actions with the Rig Manager and Drilling Supervisor.
• Enforce well‑control practices, emergency procedures, and overall safety standards.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to keep rig equipment operational and well‑maintained.
• Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and maintain accurate drilling logs and operational reports.
• Train and mentor junior drillers and other rig crew members.
• Participate in incident investigations and contribute to corrective action plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience in drilling operations on oil or gas rigs.
• Ability to lead and supervise a drilling crew in a high‑risk environment.
• Strong understanding of well‑control, HSE regulations, and emergency response procedures.
• Excellent communication skills for safety briefings and reporting.
