Commis – Full‑time Food Preparation Role

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Commis to join the kitchen team at Marriott International in Algiers. The position involves preparing ingredients, cooking and assembling dishes according to recipes, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, washing, peeling and storing fresh produce.
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients accurately.
• Cook foods following recipes, quality and presentation standards.
• Prepare cold dishes and assemble plated meals.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely.
• Test foods for proper cooking and monitor quality during preparation.
• Set‑up and break down work stations, ensuring proper sanitation.
• Serve food in correct portions and receptacles.
• Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives and equipment.
• Check appliance and food temperatures for compliance.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related kitchen experience.
• Ability to stand, walk or sit for an entire shift and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, lifting up to 25 lb.
• Commitment to follow safety, hygiene and company policies.
• Professional appearance and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
