About the role

The United Nations is seeking a Legal Officer on a temporary basis at the P4 level to join the Appeals Section of the Administrative Law Division. The role supports the implementation of UN standards of conduct and provides legal advice on internal justice matters.

Key responsibilities

Implement United Nations standards of conduct for all personnel categories.
Provide strategic and legal advice on internal justice issues.
Represent the Secretary‑General before the United Nations Dispute Tribunal.
Handle disciplinary matters concerning Secretariat staff members.
Oversee and coordinate actions to prevent and respond to unsatisfactory conduct.
Support UN Secretariat managers in addressing conduct and discipline matters.

Required profile

Legal expertise with knowledge of UN internal justice processes.
Experience in handling disciplinary and conduct‑related cases.
Ability to provide strategic advice to senior officials.
Strong understanding of UN standards of conduct.
