Grid Automation & Software Intern

About the role

Join GE Vernova’s Grid Automation & Software team for a 6‑month summer internship. You will work on real‑world power system challenges, applying electrical engineering, physics, and AI/ML techniques to create commercially viable features.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate on enhancing existing Grid Automation & Software solutions.
• Develop new features that address industry and customer needs.
• Apply AI/ML methods to solve grid stability and fault‑detection problems.
• Participate in pilot projects and initiatives shaping future grid technology.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a STEM field.
• Preferably completing thesis work focused on power systems, protection, or controls.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Available full‑time (40 hrs/week) for a 6‑month summer internship.
• Willing to work onsite at company locations and field sites.

Required skills

• Knowledge of grid automation technologies and IEC standards.
• Fundamental understanding of power‑system concepts such as fault detection and grid stability.
• Experience with AI/ML techniques applied to energy systems.
• Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and physics.
