Senior HSE Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Senior HSE Specialist to strengthen health, safety and environment practices at our Hassi Messaoud site in Algeria. You will partner with local management to embed a robust HSE culture, ensure regulatory compliance and support operational teams in meeting their safety objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Support management in developing and maintaining a strong HSE culture across the worksite.
• Integrate HSE policies, standards and objectives into daily operations and management activities.
• Advise on compliance requirements, corrective actions and continuous‑improvement opportunities.
• Monitor adherence to company HSE standards, local regulations and host‑country requirements.
• Assist line management with the HSE Management System, preparing and updating HSE plans, procedures, work instructions and checklists.
• Identify and assess workplace risks, participate in incident investigations and drive root‑cause analysis.
• Conduct HSE audits, self‑assessments and prepare performance reports.
• Coordinate HSE inductions, training programs and awareness initiatives for employees and contractors.
• Liaise with contractors, local authorities and external agencies on HSE matters.

Required profile

• Several years of relevant HSE experience in energy, oil & gas, industrial or related sectors.
• Proven track record of conducting HSE audits, investigations, risk assessments and training.
• Experience working in remote operational environments is highly desirable.
• Valid ANEM subscription and ability to apply through ANEM agencies in Ouargla or Touggourt.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and standards.
• Ability to develop and maintain HSE documentation and procedures.
• Competence in risk assessment, incident investigation and root‑cause analysis.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
