Senior Road Safety Campaigns & Vulnerable Users Expert

About the role

NTU International is looking for a senior expert to lead road safety awareness and behavioural‑change campaigns across the ECOWAS region. The role focuses on integrating vulnerable‑user considerations into transport policies and delivering inclusive communication initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement road safety awareness campaigns and behavioural‑change initiatives.
• Provide technical assistance on communication strategies, public outreach programmes and stakeholder engagement.
• Integrate gender‑sensitive and inclusive approaches for women, youth, persons with disabilities, pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable groups.
• Develop communication materials, awareness tools and public‑information campaigns.
• Contribute to road‑safety studies, analytical reports and policy recommendations.
• Coordinate with transport authorities, civil‑society organisations, educational institutions, media actors and development partners.
• Deliver workshops, consultations and capacity‑building activities on road‑safety communication.
• Support monitoring, reporting and evaluation of campaign outcomes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in communications, public health, social sciences, transport safety, behavioural sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in road‑safety campaigns, public‑awareness programmes or social‑inclusion projects.
• Proven experience working on transport or road‑safety projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience with international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
