Commis 2 - Kitchen Assistant

About the role

JW Marriott in Algiers is hiring a Commis 2 for its kitchen team. The position is full time and involves preparing and cooking food according to recipes, quality standards and presentation standards, as well as cleaning and maintaining the kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping and storing food, and wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients, and prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and a food preparation checklist.
• Prepare cold foods and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test foods to check they are cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality.
• Set up and break down the workstation and serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles.
• Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives and equipment, and check appliance and food temperatures.
• Follow company and safety policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, complete safety training and certifications, and keep a clean, professional appearance.
• Work in a team, respect quality standards and perform other reasonable duties asked by supervisors.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related work experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Able to stand, sit or walk for long periods, reach overhead and below the knees, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
