Development Director – New Business

About the role

The Development Director (New Business) will provide strategic leadership for Impetus’ new business development, managing the prospect pipeline and securing high‑value funding opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the role translates fundraising strategy into concrete pipeline plans and ensures a steady flow of qualified opportunities to help grow philanthropic income from £11m to £14m by 2029.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate and convert new corporate, trust, foundation and high‑net‑worth donor relationships.
• Lead and support six‑ and seven‑figure prospect engagements and strategic funding opportunities.
• Oversee stewardship and retention of existing partners to maximise long‑term impact.
• Collaborate with Philanthropy, Partnerships and cross‑functional teams to ensure a joined‑up approach to donor acquisition and pipeline development.
• Translate the overall fundraising strategy into clear new‑business priorities and prospect engagement approaches.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in fundraising or development within the non‑profit sector.
• Demonstrated success in securing high‑value corporate, trust, foundation or high‑net‑worth donations.
• Strong network and relationships with potential donors and partners.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional collaboration and influence senior stakeholders.
• Passion for improving education and employment outcomes for disadvantaged young people.
